Manufacturing Pistons, Plungers and Spool Components
Pistons, plungers and spool components operate within hydraulic assemblies where dimensional stability under pressure and cycling determines whether the assembly holds its seal. TEK Precision turns these components on CNC turning centres including a Hitachi Seiki HT40 with 15-inch chuck and steady rest, and two Mori Seiki SL250 machines configured for 15-inch chuck work and for long-part work at 43 inches between centres.
Finish grinding is performed on Tschudin cylindrical grinders capable of 0.000002 inch resolution, with surface finish verified by profilometer.
Where a component forms part of a hydraulic assembly, TEK tests the completed unit in-house: test stands operate from 0 to 15 GPM with proof testing to 10,000 PSI, 3,500 PSI operating pressure and 3-micron filtration, using an automatic cycling device. An environmental chamber allows verification from minus 65°F to 500°F. Every unit ships with full test data traceable to the OEM specification.
