Manufacturing Hinges and Mounting Components
Hinges and mounting components carry structural loads while accommodating movement, which places demands on both bore accuracy and the fatigue performance of the parent material. TEK Precision machines these on horizontal and vertical machining centres, with bore finishing by honing and verification against Sunnen dial bore gauges across 0.150 to 6.000 inches.
Hardness verification is performed in-house on Wilson hardness testers per ASTM E-10, E-18, E-92 and E-384, with conductivity inspection available where required. Thermal stress relief is performed in-house per SS8407 and SS8669 using Precision Quincy and Blue M ovens.
Where a hinge or mount assembly requires structural adhesive bonding, TEK is approved to SS8669 for all classes of bonding on Sikorsky rotorcraft programmes, performed in a temperature and humidity-controlled room by certified bonding operators, with adhesive test panels tensile tested in-house on an Instron tensile tester.
