Manufacturing Bushings and Sleeve Components
Bushings and sleeve components demand tight bore control and consistent surface finish, since both directly govern fit and service life in the assembly they support. TEK Precision produces these components on Sunnen honing equipment — a CV-616 vertical honing machine with an 18-inch stroke and 12-inch diameter capacity, alongside horizontal honing machines with 18-inch stroke and 6-inch diameter capacity. Bore dimensions are verified against four sets of Sunnen dial bore gauges covering 0.150 through 6.000 inches, set on dedicated Sunnen fixtures.
Where a bushing requires pressing into a mating component, TEK operates three Sunnen hydraulic presses rated to 10,000 pounds and a 20-ton Manley press. Surface finish is verified on an Airtronics profilometer measuring 1 to 3000 microinches.
Every component is inspected against the customer's drawing before release, with first-article inspection performed on 100% of new part numbers and calibration traceable to NIST.
