Manufacturing Pins, Bolts and Threaded Fasteners
Pins, bolts and threaded fasteners in flight safety-critical applications are subject to inspection requirements well beyond commercial hardware. TEK Precision is a certified threaded fastener facility, operating a complete Johnson thread gaging system from #10 through 2.500 with Method "C" and safety-critical capability.
Thread inspection draws on more than 300 thread plug gauges and more than 300 thread ring gauges from 4-40 through 7.000, each with a matched thread setting plug, supported by precision thread measuring wires and thread pitch micrometers covering 14 through 32 pitch.
Turning is performed on CNC turning centres and on Hardinge DV-59 and HLV-H precision lathes for smaller work. Ground diameters are finished on Tschudin cylindrical grinders to 0.000002 inch resolution. Hardness is verified on Wilson hardness testers per ASTM E-10, E-18, E-92 and E-384, and ground surfaces are temper etch inspected for grind burn per SS8705 where the specification requires it.
