Rings, lock rings and seal components must hold dimensional tolerance across a wide operating temperature range, since their function depends on maintaining an interference or sealing fit as the surrounding assembly expands and contracts. TEK Precision turns these components on CNC turning centres, with finish grinding on Tschudin cylindrical grinders resolving to 0.000002 inches and surface grinding on an Okamoto grinder with 30 by 12 inch capacity.
Dimensional verification uses indicator micrometers reading to 0.0001, groove gauges covering 0 to 5 inches, and Deltronic and Meyers gauge pins. Flatness and parallelism are verified against Ottavino and Starrett lab-grade surface plates.
Hardness is confirmed on Wilson hardness testers per the applicable ASTM standard, and thermal stress relief is available in-house per SS8407 where the drawing calls for it. Ultrasonic cleaning and degreasing are performed as final operations.
